Japanese Defence Minister Arrives in India, Holds Bilateral Talks with Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh![]() New Delhi, 5 May 2025: The Defence Minister of Japan, Gen Nakatani, arrived in New Delhi today for an official visit and held a bilateral meeting with India’s Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh. Following the meeting, Shri Rajnath Singh shared on social media, "It was a delight to meet Japan’s Defence Minister Gen Nakatani San in New Delhi. India shares a Special, Strategic and Global partnership with Japan. During the bilateral meeting we discussed defence cooperation and regional security. Both sides condemned terrorism in all forms and emphasised the need for enhanced collaboration and joint efforts to counter cross-border threats." The discussions reflected the shared commitment of both nations to deepen defence and strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. Shri Rajnath Singh welcomed the continued support of Japan in strengthening bilateral defence ties and promoting peace and stability in the region. Gen Nakatani also expressed Japan’s solidarity with India following the recent attack in Pahalgam, offering full support and extending condolences to the victims. His message was received with gratitude by the Indian side. The visit is part of ongoing high-level engagements between the two countries, aimed at advancing mutual interests in defence, maritime security, and counter-terrorism efforts. |
