Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah Visits Shelling-Affected Areas in Uri Sector, Baramulla![]() Uri (Baramulla), 14 May 2025: Reiterating his government’s steadfast commitment to the welfare and well-being of citizens residing along the Line of Control (LoC), the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Omar Abdullah, today conducted an extensive visit to several areas in the Uri sector impacted by recent cross-border shelling. The locations visited included Salamabad, Lagama, Bandi, and Gingal. The Chief Minister was accompanied by his Advisor, Shri Nasir Aslam Wani; Member of Legislative Assembly from Uri, Dr. Sajjad Shafi; Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Shri Minga Sherpa; SSP Baramulla, Shri Gurinderpal Singh; along with other senior administrative and police officials. During the visit, the Chief Minister reviewed the on-ground situation, interacted with affected residents, and assessed the extent of damage to property and infrastructure. He assured local communities that the government stands firmly with them and will take all necessary measures to provide relief and support reconstruction efforts. Reflecting on the region’s enduring resilience, Shri Omar Abdullah remarked on X (formerly Twitter): "This land has endured so much — from the impact of the 2005 earthquake to the pain of cross-border shelling. Yet, its people rise every time, with courage in their hearts and resilience in their spirit."
