Gratitude Luncheon Hosted by Daily Rated Workers of UT Ladakh: CEC, Leh Extends Appreciation to Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh




Leh, 1 May 2025: The All Ladakh Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) convened a luncheon at the Shanam Community Hall, Leh, to convey their sincere gratitude for the recent extension of benefits under the consolidated guidelines of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT). This landmark decision marks a moment of profound relief and recognition for approximately 1,900 DRWs serving across various departments within the Union Territory of Ladakh.

The gathering was graced by a distinguished assembly of officials and dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson; Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal; Hon’ble Executive Councillors Tashi Namgyal Yakzee and Stanzin Chosphel; Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Ms. Shruti Arora; Director, Accounts and Treasuries, Dr. Safdar Ali (IRS); former Member of Parliament, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal; State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Phunchok Stanzin; Hon’ble Councillors; Superintending Engineers of PDD and PHE; Executive Engineers, and numerous other esteemed guests.

Addressing the attendees, Mr. Phunchok Angchuk, President of the All Ladakh Daily Rated Workers Association, stated:
“It was a long-standing demand, and we have struggled a lot. Today, our efforts have borne fruit. We thank the Hon’ble Chief Secretary, Hon’ble CEC, and all stakeholders who supported us throughout.”

In his remarks, Hon’ble CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson extended his congratulations to the workers and acknowledged the collective efforts that led to this achievement:
“This is a well-deserved outcome for all DRWs who have been contributing sincerely to the functioning of essential services in the region. We are also deeply grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and LG Ladakh Brig. Dr. B.D Mishra (Retd) whose support made this possible.”

Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal also addressed the gathering, emphasising the administration’s ongoing commitment to fairness and reform:
“This issue has been pending for a long time, and I am happy to see it resolved. Many new schemes are being introduced across departments, and we are committed to ensuring fair treatment and better opportunities for all workers.”
He further extended his appreciation to all stakeholders whose unwavering support facilitated this positive outcome.

The luncheon concluded on a note of unity and mutual appreciation, with attendees reaffirming their shared commitment to the continued progress and welfare of the region’s workforce.
