SDM Khaltse Inspects Lingshed and Fotoksar Gonpas to Review Preparations for the Forthcoming Visit of His Holiness the 73rd Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche![]() Khaltse, 1 May 2025: In accordance with the directives of the Hon’ble Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC-Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Khaltse, Mr Mohd Sharif, undertook a comprehensive inspection of Lingshed and Fotoksar Gonpas to oversee the preparatory arrangements ahead of the scheduled visit of His Holiness the 73rd Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, taking place from 7th to 10th May 2025. During the visit, the SDM inspected the Lingshed Photang, the primary venue for His Holiness’s teachings, to evaluate arrangements including VIP and general parking, public conveniences, and waste management systems. A series of on-site deliberations were conducted to assess the readiness of vital services such as road access, potable water supply, electricity provision, traffic regulation, medical support, seating capacity, installation of the Public Address System (PAS), and overall sanitation. Mr Sharif issued directives to all officers and officials of the concerned departments, urging the timely completion of all necessary arrangements, particularly those pertaining to core infrastructure and connectivity. The inspection also extended to a review of road conditions along both the Nimoo-Padum-Darcha (NPD) and Lingshed-Fotoksar-Neraks (LPN) routes within the Singaylalok area. The SDM was accompanied by Naib Tehsildar Wanla, Mr Phuntsog Namgial; Executive Engineer, R&B Khaltse, Mr Thinles Zangpo; Block Development Officer, Khaltse, Mr Pankaj Rajput; Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) from R&B, PDD, PHE, and I&FC departments—Mr Anwar Khan, Mr Toldan, Mr Phurboo Sandup, and Mr Mohd Abdullah, respectively; Sub-Inspector Skarma Angchok from Police Station Khaltse; Medical Officer Dr Irfan-ul-Haq Wani; Lingshed Gonpa authority Gen. Stanzin Norbo; Namberdar Lingshed, Mr Nawang Stanzin; Junior Engineer (Technical), Mr Deldan Namgial; Junior Engineer PHE, Mr Jigmat Chotak; along with representatives from Lingshed village. On the periphery of the inspection, the SDM instructed departmental officers to carry out assessments of damages to roads, electric poles, irrigation kohl systems, and other public infrastructure caused by recent snowfall on 19–20 April 2025. The respective teams visited affected sites, and each department has been directed to submit a detailed damage report to the Sub-Divisional Headquarters in Khaltse, which will subsequently be forwarded to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, for consideration and the timely release of relief funds. Furthermore, the SDM issued specific instructions to the R&B Division to resume construction works on the Dipling road and ensure its completion within the stipulated timeframe. |
