Delegation of Women Leaders Meets Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Appreciates 33% Reservation for Women in LAHDC Leh Elections![]() Leh, 5 May 2025: A delegation of women from various organisations across Ladakh, led by Nominated Councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh, Dr Yangchan Dolma, called upon the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), to express heartfelt appreciation for the recent resolution passed by LAHDC Leh during its General Council Meeting, recommending 33 percent reservation for women in future LAHDC Leh elections. During the meeting, Dr Yangchan Dolma extended sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and to the Hill Council Leh for their committed efforts in advancing the cause of gender representation. She underscored the significance of implementing the reservation in the forthcoming LAHDC elections, noting that such a measure would be instrumental in fostering gender inclusivity and empowering women to play a more active role in regional governance. In his address to the delegation, the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor acknowledged the passing of the resolution as a notable achievement made possible under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He expressed confidence that the reservation would be effectively implemented, thereby ensuring increased participation and representation of women in the decision-making processes of Ladakh. The meeting was also attended by Chief Secretary of Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Nominated Councillor Dr Yangchan Dolma, and women representatives from a broad spectrum of civil society organisations across the region.
